Nocturnal describes organisms active in the night. And in the night is the perfect time for this track to be listened to.

I started this deep / dark / minimal Drum & Bass piece in the night of July 25, 2012.

A few months earlier I stumbled over minimalistic styles and discovered the idea behind it, that every sound has it's own power, it's own message to communicate, has it's own habitat inside the dwelling of the song as it gets treated to perfection during the sounddesign process.

The main inspiration I had back then (and still is big today) was Icicle, tracks like his minimal dubstep monsters "Galactic Step" and his collab with Distance "Exhale" or the drum & bass flicks "Arrows" and "I feel You" revealed something to me I already forgot how much i loved it: The power of detail.

As a listener of those tracks you need to draw your attention to the tiny parts that seem to lack of importance, but in reality, the whole track depends on.

"Nocturnal" was already almost finished in october, but it was originally planned as part of an EP that covers several kinds of dnb tracks. I still want to create that EP but i figured it will take some time until this happens, since I haven't had the skills back then and currently have other plans, that's why I don't want to hold this track back any longer, so I can move on and stop thinking about it.

As an additional influence I'd like to mention the title "Orthodox" by Anile, which was among the first pieces of minimal DnB I've heard, and still teaches me today to take risks, try something new or go for an unexpected hit.

The cover design has been done by myself, Armin helped me out on the photo shoot.
